Learning To Dive At The Age Of 70?

I'm sure you agree that being healthy is
the most important thing in your life!
A friend of mine went on holiday to the seaside for diving - this is great

She is about 70 years old - that's awesome

She could only crawl out of bed after a stroke a couple of years ago - that's something to think about...

She says she achieved this outstanding health and fitness thanks to qigong - that's highly interesting!

The Winter Olympics, Shaun White and You

Americans' eyes are on Shaun White this winter season.

This made me think about the importance of perseverance and stamina. In life, no matter what you would like to achieve these are key elements of success. Qigong or chikung is no different!

If you want to see results you have to do the exercises every day to achieve complete health (physical, emotional AND mental at the same time!). Sure enough life can come up with challenges but these are the times when you can prove yourself worthy of getting that prize you want, reaching your goal. Be it becoming healthy and fit or even more: becoming the creator of your life and make things happen with the power of your thoughts!

Actually this reminds me of a friend of mine who is giving some of his work away for FREE to help people achieve their goals. These audios helped me a lot in clearing my mind from clutter and make room for the thoughts that help me create my life.

The Pittsburgh Pirates Are Famous - What About You?

Garrett Jones - The Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates are well know not just for their play but some "funny" habits as well like stuffing hamburgers into their doughnuts.  17 awesome things are mentioned about the Pittsburgh Pirates in the last usatoday.com article. Surely they work hard for their fame - which raises two topics here:

1. Who is famous?

In my opinion you can be famous within your surrounding even by doing little things! People do "memorize" all our actions and everybody becomes famous for one thing or another, we just don't use this word, but the essence is the same...

So what do you want to be famous for? Think about it and then act accordingly - news spread with lightning speed.

2. What sport is the best?

Well, I'm sure everybody has a different answer to this question. But if we take health into consideration then they would not be even in the first 100 list... Why I am saying that? Remember their doughnuts? Working out alone does not guarantee a healthy lifestyle. What is more, we haven't talked about keeping our feelings and mind healthy as well. The latter two surely can be achieved by doing qigong or joga for example, but usually not  with competitive sports. So from this aspect maybe the sport types thought to be the best are not the best after all....

What is YOUR take on this? Feel free to share your opinion below!

Best 3 + 1 Tips To Start Your Qigong Practice Again

I'm sure most of you have dropped doing physical activities at some point in your lives. So you are quite familiar with that postponing strategy of " tomorrow I'll start it" and then again tomorrow, and a month has past and still nothing done.... Is that familiar? If so read on and find some simple tips that help you get back into the habit of working out.

 1. Talk to a friend and decide on a time when you do qigong together - it is much easier to stick to the plan this way!

 2. Write it down in your daily to do list and tick it when you have done it - works wonders I can tell you! no to do list yet? start one - today - it will save you a lot of time and get things done - guaranteed

3. Start with short exercises - do it for 10 minutes - easier to start with a 10 minutes block then with a complete hour of qigong exercises.

Even if you start with 10 minutes you'll feel energized within two days - which helps you to go to the one hour training!

Another "funny", extra tip: do the standing qigong posture while travelling to work. I do it all the time in the underground. I can balance really well and no one notices! I stand next to the first seat near the door, in case something happens I can easily grab the bar.

Now, what are you waiting for? Start implementing :)- and let me know how you are doing!

Why Chi Kung can heal chronic diseases?

Reasons why chikong can heal chronic disease:

1.      Beneficial control to give the brain a chance to re-regulate or recuperate those functions which are deviated a little:
In Hong Kong, when the new air port had been built, they moved from Kai Tak Airport (the old airport) to the new international airport immediately to start work in order to celebrate the reunion of Hong Kong to China in 1997, may be it was too hurry, everything was in a mess after the ceremony, so the Hong Kong Government decided to stop receiving orders from outside, that is to say, no passenger transportation, no cargo transportation so to give a small group of computer experts a chance ( a certain period of time without disturbance from outside, at this time, the air port was under a special situation, no body worked except a small group of experts ) to re-regulate the computer system, put everything back to the normal track. Then, they started receiving order from outside again as normal.
In practicing Chi Kung, the same reason, we put the body into a special situation, in this situation, no disturbance from the outside, that is to say, you concentrate so much that you hear nothing, see nothing, smell nothing, now the brain gets a chance to use its innate function to re-regulate what is deviated from the normal track and put them back to the way they are supposed to be. The ordinary people never give the brain such a chance but the Chi Kung people know that it’s important, this is not sleeping, in sleeping, every part of the brain nearly stops working, it is a very special situation in which a certain part of the brain works very hard while the other parts stop working. That is it! Makes sense, right? What mystery?
2.      Internal massage ---- breathing with the diaphragm:
In Chi Kung practice, we breathe with the diaphragm, the diaphragm moves up and down and thus cause internal massaging the organs inside and thus produce secretions which improve digestion and other metabolisms.
3.      Resume those secretions which seem to be dry and thus get back a part of our youth:
When the chi passes through some glands which seem to stop working when we become mature, the Chi stimulates those glands which will resume working to some degree. The declining secretions become active again. That is why the people who practice Chi Kung constantly look younger than those who don’t usually.
4.      Raise the ability of our self-healing systems:
We all know that muscle can be trained to become stronger. Can our self-healing system (more than immune system, not only against germs) be trained? The answer is “yes”, Chi Kung is the exercise to do that.

6 Sure Fire Tricks for Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain

by Sara Novak

Are you eating healthy food?
The season of weight gain has already begun. It all starts with an enormous Thanksgiving feast and culminates with the drunken festivities of New Year's Eve. Come New Year’s Day many of us are awoken to the added bulge surrounding our bellies and thighs.
No matter where you’re prone to gain weight, none of it feels good. It’s an unnecessary setback and constant weight fluctuations are bad for your health.
While I won’t divulge how many years that I’ve gone through this downside of the holiday season, I will say that it’s no longer an issue in my life. Over the years I’ve compiled a list of sure fire ways to avoid the holiday weight gain, no matter who you are.

1. Eat Only When Seated

Holiday grazing is one of the largest sources of weight gain. It’s not necessarily the quality of the food that we eat, it’s the amount. Resolve to never eat while standing up. In the end, this means that you'll avoid snacking and eating between meals.
I just got back from a trip to Indonesia and though I indulged in meals that were larger than I normally would have eaten at home, I lost weight on the trip. At first I was confused until I realized that I didn’t have a single snack while I was there. Eat three meals a day and let that be it, especially during the holidays when meals are larger.

 2. Don’t Eat Anything With a Wrapper

Do your best to avoid foods that come with a wrapper. These are the foods that cause us to gain the most weight. Stick with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein. Processed foods are too easy to grab and therefore, cause the most weight gain.
Stay away from chips, prepackaged cookies, candy, processed meats, cheeses, and other fatty dairy choices.

3. Try the Meditation Diet

Try and remain in balance during the holiday season. This means try to get on a regular meditation schedule. I like to meditate for a bit in the morning and in the evening, that way I can ensure I'm engaged in the present moment during both portions of my day. You don't have to sit for a long period of time, ten minutes is a good start, the key is that you're consistent. Allow this mindfulness to translate to your diet as well.
Meditate on your meals. Notice every aspect of the taste, texture, and smell of your food. And when you're full, stop eating. The same goes for drinking, don't get drunk so that you lose that mindfulness at the party and have a hangover the next day. That's two days of mindfulness shot. Notice how food impacts you. Did the pumpkin pie make you feel good after you ate it? If not, do you really want to feel crappy again?

4. Hone Your Morning Routine

When winter rolls around try and avoid slipping into that place where activity falls by the wayside. Set your workout cloths by the bed so that in the morning you can slip off the bed and put on your outfit. Start the day with a brisk walk or run before you even know what hit you. If you’re not into walking or running, choose an activity that you do like. I have my yoga mat out and ready to go so I roll off my bed and onto my mat to get my day started right.

5. Plan Activities With the Family

Planning activities is an ideal way of controlling weight gain and keeping you sane. Plan outdoor games for the whole family. This way you’re not all sitting around eating and gossiping.
If your family is making you crazy, plan an activity apart. Both my husband and I live far away from our families so we usually plan long visits. To break up the time, we often hit the park with the dogs or go play tennis for a few hours.

6. Choose a Go To Alcohol-Free Beverage

The holidays are often marked with excessive alcohol which can be problematic in already stressful weight gain situations. Keep drinking to a minimum and make sure most of your drinking is done with a meal rather than on a empty stomach. Not only is drinking problematic while it’s happening, it can put you in a bad place the next day.
Instead, have a go-to non-alcoholic drink like club soda with cranberry and lime, watered down juice, or your favorite mocktail planned so that you stay sober.

What Is The Real Secret Of Chi Kong ( Qi Gong)?

If you saw the previous post you could wonder: how are things like this possible? What is this Chi (Qi) anyway?

Well, let me tell you an interesting thing about Chi Kong also known as qigong. It has been used for thousands of years with great success in eliminating illnesses, regaining control over our thoughts and feelings and aquiring "super power" - no wonder the Chinese regime was so afraid of the chikong masters that they sent them into prison or even killed them.

Actually the "mechanics" of it is simple. Let me explain: the more energy we have, the more confident, happy self empowered we are. It becomes more and more difficult for outer hypnotic and subliminal programs to have an effect on us - so we won't "follow the herd", won't be consumers only. We start creating the life we want to live.

You might ask how? With the power of our thoughts. Actually everybody creates in their lives with their thoughts and feelings. That's why it is paramount to be on a high energy level to create positive things into your life.

Now imagine when you can achieve the state of no thoughts bombarding you one after the other. Then you chose a thought and it becomes a reality in your physical world. That's the "secret". With chikong practice you can achieve this no thought state as chi kong has an effect on your body, emotions and mind at the same time.

10) Vibrant eyes. The eyes are the window to the soul and if one is at peace and heart is open, the reflection will be seen by others.
11) Intuition and creativity. Qigong will awaken the brain and being, this will promote the ability to think with the gut and to feel with mind. All this will generate intuition and creativity.
12) Spiritual effects. As you become more advanced in Qigong a variety of spiritual experiences will become more common, such as meaningful coincidences. When the Qi (Chi - energy) is abundant, clear, and flowing, the senses are more in tune with the universe.
